BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee on Tuesday said that if BNP comes to power independently in the future, it will not govern the country unilaterally.
"BNP will take steps to establish a bicameral parliament to govern the country based on consensus, in line with its 31-point agenda," he said at the award-giving ceremony of the late Arafat Rahman Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament at Lakshmipur Government College ground.
He noted that BNP’s 31-point reform agenda includes several urgent and essential reforms, which have also been acknowledged by the interim government.
"The urgent reforms should be implemented swiftly with input from all parties, followed by elections," he added.
Anee emphasized the need for stability, saying: "Bangladesh requires normal politics, a socially harmonious environment, and economic discipline."
He also stressed the importance of controlling inflation and adopting a comprehensive approach to building a prosperous Bangladesh.
Criticizing the previous government, he said: "It took the country backward. Reforms are necessary to recover the losses."
He added that a government with true representation of the people is essential to achieve this.
Anee further said: "BNP is a popular, modern, and moderate political party. Since August 5, a qualitative change has emerged in the country’s politics."
"Now, the people demand a qualitative change in leadership. If a moderate party like BNP cannot provide this, no one else will," he added.
Anee also stressed the need for national unity, urging everyone to remain united to prevent any conspiracies against Bangladesh.
