Rifat Rashid, a member of the central executive committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has said a new political party for students will be launched in February.

He made the remarks on Sunday afternoon during a meeting of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Mohammad Ali-Yakub Ali School ground in Tetuljhora Union, Savar.

He said: “The student political party will contest in all 300 constituencies in the upcoming elections, aiming to fulfil the aspirations of the people.”

The student coordinator also said that any political party that seeks to suppress the people, like the Awami League, and fails to meet the aspirations of the public will be rejected by the people.

At the meeting, students who had led and participated in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement from Aminbazar, Bhakurta, Kaundia, and Tetuljhora Unions raised various issues following August 5.

They also complained that extortion in Savar and Ashulia had not stopped since August 5.

The meeting was also attended by Shefali Sultana, the Dhaka Division representative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, central coordinator Abdullah Salehin Ayon, co-coordinator Ismail Hossain Rudra, and other leaders and activists.
