Maulana Mamunul Haque, the General Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, has called for a tough stance against the actions of the Maulana Saad followers, labeling them a "terrorist group" and demanding their banning.

On Wednesday, after a meeting with the Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Mamunul Haque made these remarks to the press.

He said: "This was not a conflict; it was a one-sided attack. The Saad followers carried out an attack on sleeping people, resulting in murders. Those involved in this heinous act must be arrested by today. The home affairs adviser has assured us of this."

Maulana Mamunul Haque accused the them of forcefully entering the Ijtema ground in a terrorist manner.

He said that this attack caused tension among the Maulana Zubair followers, but assured that they would cooperate with the administration and proceed with organizing the Ijtema as scheduled.

He further said: "Saad followers have challenged the state. Despite the understanding that any issues would be resolved through discussion, they ignored all decisions and attacked sleeping people. This enemy must be resisted. A case will be filed today."

Mamunul Haque said that the Saad followers should be declared a banned "terrorist group" due to their violent actions.

"Strict measures must be taken against them for their terrorist activities," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, clashes erupted repeatedly between supporters of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad over the control of Tongi's Bishwa Ijtema grounds, leaving two worshipers dead and many others injured.
