BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said that BNP want to bid farewell to the interim government with a red rose of gratitude through the democratic process, not by any other means.
The BNP leader urged to the interim fovernment to move towards election.
He emphasized the need for constitutional reform through an elected parliament, underscoring that changes should not be made outside this framework. saying: “We will support the interim government for a reasonable period to facilitate a fair and transparent election.”
He said that on Friday at a brief rally organized by BNP’s Khulna Metropolitan unit at the Zia Hall Square in Shivbari Mor, Khulna, on the second day of a three-day program commemorating National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Addressing party members, he urged them to uphold the victories of the nation, recalling Bangladesh’s independence on December 16, 1971, and the removal of autocracy on August 5.
He expressed concerns about certain figures around the chief adviser, suggesting they were creating confusion among the public.
Highlighting the significance of November 7, he said: “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established one-party rule through Baksal. Following his death, the people reestablished multiparty democracy on November 7 under the leadership of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman.”
Following the speeches, Roy inaugurated a grand rally by releasing balloons and festoons. The procession started from Shivbari Mor, passing through Moylapota, Sat Rasta Mor, and Royal Square before concluding.
Thousands of BNP leaders and activists from affiliated organizations participated, gathering with flags, banners, and musical instruments. By 3:30pm, the Zia Hall Square was packed with party members.
