Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former member of parliament Prof Mia Golam Parwar has said that the current government is an interim one, its main task is to step down through a free, fair and acceptable election.
While distributing relief among the flood-affected people in Dumuria Upazila on Tuesday, he said: "The people could not cast their vote in the elections of 2014, 2018, and 2024."
He alleged that voting occurred with the support of the Chhatra League, Jubo League, and police.
He spoke about the rising prices of essential goods, mentioning the syndicates of the Awami fascists in the market, which are raising prices to turn the people against the government.
He said that we are to blame for the flooding, as we have created blockages in the canals and water bodies, trapping the water. With the assistance of government officials, Awami fascists had blocked water in all the canals and water bodies.
The government must immediately spend its treasury funds to take effective measures to alleviate the suffering of the general public caused by the flooding, he added.
Addressing government officials, he said: "Try to understand the language of the people." He insisted that a government elected by the people is needed, one that is free from corruption and looting.
He also distributed cash assistance to the affected individuals at various madrasas in Khulna. He said: "Flooding cannot be resolved in a day, but we will take effective steps."
In his closing remarks, he stressed the need to remove the remaining Awami fascists from the administration and called for the people to work together in unity.
