Opposition BNP thursday alleged that the government was hatching a conspiracy to hold the next election under its arrangement by changing the constitution.
“This fascist government wants to kill the democratic process of the country,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, acting secretary general of the party, said.
He was speaking at an inauguration programme of the party’s political workshop for its youth front Jubo Dal.
Fakhrul said: “People have not accepted such changes to the constitution. They will resist election under the partisan government.”
He also said the country’s future was at stake, so the BNP has to play a role to get out of such “crisis.”
Pointing out the importance of the workshop, Fakhrul said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had introduced training school for politicians and party Chairperson Khaleda Zia had resumed it after the 1/11 changeover.
“Political leaders should have detailed knowledge of the country’s history, nationalism, Liberation War, human rights, philosophy, information and technology. The Liberation war is a great achievement but a vested quarter is defaming this glory,” he said.
