Visiting US Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Afreen Akhter and US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas held an hour-long closed-door meeting with BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The meeting was held at Gulshan’s Westin Hotel at 3pm on Saturday.
A high-level delegation from the US National Security Council, State Department, and USAID arrived in Dhaka this morning.
BNP leaders Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Shama Obaid were also present.
This is the first meeting of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and Amir Khasru with foreigners after their release from jail after three and a half months.
