Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) announced a program to show red cards to the dummy parliament on Tuesday.
The party's Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju announced this during a media briefing on Saturday.
AB Party's Joint Convener Tajul Islam said: “At this moment, there are 350 sworn-in MPs from the 11th parliament and 298 from the dummy 12th parliament, totalling 648 MPs. This chaos will continue until the end of the 11th parliament's tenure on January 29. This is a clear violation of the Constitution. It is possible to cancel the illegal 12th parliament within this time.”
He said: “Clause ka of Article 123(3) of the constitution, says that general elections for members of parliament shall be held within 90 days before the dissolution of the parliament due to its termination. However, it specifies that those elected in the general election under this sub-clause shall not assume office as members of parliament until the expiry of the term mentioned in the said sub-clause.”
He further said: “The current parliament's term lasts until January 29. Meaning, that those elected for the 12th parliament can not take the oath before January 29 according to this clause and sub-clause. Doing so would be unconstitutional and illegal.”
