As part of the election campaign for the upcoming national election, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached Kalkini upazila in Madaripur to directly engage with voters.
Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League, entered the rally ground around 3:30pm on Saturday.
As soon as the prime minister came to Kalkini Syed Abul Hossain University College ground, the entire area became abuzz with cheerful slogans of Awami League leaders and activists.
Supporters from various unions in the upazila flocked to the ground since morning.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina attended election rallies in Tungipara and Kotalipara upazilas of Gopalganj in the morning.
Sheikh Hasina arrived in Tungipara on Friday after a campaign event in Barisal and spent the night at her residence.
The Awami League president kicked off her party's election campaign from Sylhet-I constituency by visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) and addressed a rally there.
Awami League sources said that the party chief is scheduled to conclude her election campaign through a rally in Narayanganj on January 4.
