Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has called on the police and administration to fulfil their duties to restore democracy in Bangladesh.

“There will be no risk of losing jobs or being placed on OSD (Officer on Special Duty) if the government changes [if they do their jobs properly],” Nur said at a rally on Sunday in support of a blockade called by the BNP and allies aimed at ousting the government.

Nur said: "If necessary, a neutral government can be formed for a fair election by creating unity and solidarity. So you have nothing to fear."

Addressing the Awami League government, he said: "There is still time to hand over power to a neutral government and conduct a fair election to save the country."

Nur said: "To save the country, everyone, regardless of party affiliation, must take to the streets. We will not allow any one-sided election in this country with foreign support. Our movement is ongoing and will continue until our demands are met."
