Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman and MP-aspirant GM Quader has witnessed his wealth increase three times in the last five years while his wife's wealth has doubled.
This information was disclosed from the asset declaration submitted along with the nomination papers on the occasion of the 12th national parliamentary election.
Earlier, in the affidavit filed as a candidate for the Lalmonirhat Sadar seat in the 11th national election, GM Quader had mentioned that he has Tk14,47,973 in cash. In the last five years, the amount of cash has increased to Tk49,88,253.
Similarly, during the 2018 election, GM Quader showed his wife's cash amount of Tk27,64,701. In five years, the amount of that money has increased more than twice to Tk59,59,563.
Apart from this, Tk13,02,435 was deposited in banks and financial institutions five years ago. This time it has increased to Tk35,95,793. His wife had Tk4,07,258 at that tine, which has increased seven times to Tk27,09,359.
In the affidavit filed as a candidate for the Lalmonirhat Sadar seat in the 11th national election, GM Quader had said that he had no annual income from agriculture, house rent, business, shares, savings and employment.
However, this time, he has shown an income of Tk11.58 lakh in various sectors including house rent of his dependents, and Tk4.40 lakh from business. He also earned Tk3 lakh from house rents, and Tk30 lakh from shares and savings certificates.
Meanwhile, while there was no case in his name during the last parliamentary election, this time, there is a criminal case in his name, which is pending in the Gazipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
Both the nomination papers of Rangpur-3 and Dhaka-17 constituencies have been declared valid in the 12th parliamentary election of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader.
