BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused Awami League of turning Bangladesh into a “terrorist state through its acts of terror.”

He made the remarks at a protest rally, organized by Keraniganj South thana BNP, against the attack on senior BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in Naya Paltan on Tuesday.

Fakhrul said: “The Awami League is inherently a terrorist organization. They had also protested for the caretaker government, causing violence and brutally killing 11 people in the process. This time we are protesting for a caretaker government, but in a peaceful manner.”

Protesting the attack on Gayeshwar, Fakhrul said the government is afraid of the public support for the BNP, which has led them to resort to unjust actions. He criticized the Awami League for its “lack of manners and politeness” throughout its history.

“There is no need for Gayeshwar, Aman, Salam, or others to prove their patriotism,” Fakhrul added.

Fakhrul also urged BNP leaders and activists to unite saying: "You should unite with a stronger pledge. Our demand is for Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and an election under a neutral government. The government will be forced to resign through a strict movement."

He said: “Khaleda Zia's imprisonment was unjust, with an increased sentence by the High Court following a false conviction. She was denied the legal right to bail despite being an adult and a woman.”

Additionally, he mentioned that around 4 million people have been accused in faced falses in the last 14 years, leading to severe sentences for many activists.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Executive Committee Member Khandakar Abu Ashfaq and many other leaders spoke at the rally.
