As part of their one-point movement, BNP and like-minded political parties and alliances are set to stage road marches across the country, including the capital, on Tuesday.
This will be the first program of the opposition's one-point movement with the goal to remove Awami League from power to hold the upcoming national elections under a neutral government.
The leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies will march towards the Roy Saheb Bazar crossing in the old part of Dhaka from Gabtoli bus station at 10am.
Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to inaugurate the program, which will end at 4pm.
Alongside the BNP, Ganatantra Mancha, 12-party alliance, Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote, the Liberal Democratic Party, Gonoforum and People's Party, Labour Party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Ganatantrik Bam Oikya, Samomona Gonotantrik Peshajibi Jote and Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad will also march in the city's different areas.
Besides, a similar program will be observed by the party's all metropolitan city and district units, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He called upon people from all walks of life and the leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies to make the march program a success with their spontaneous participation.
Earlier on last Wednesday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir formally announced a “one-point movement”.
As part of the first program to realize the one-point demand, he also announced a two-day countrywide march program for Tuesday and Wednesday.
BNP will also march on Wednesday from Uttara's Abdullahpur to Jatrabari from 10am to 4pm.
The other opposition parties and alliances will also observe the program in the capital.
The party's demands include the resignation of the current “fascist, authoritarian, people's vote looter and illegal” Awami League government, dissolution of the existing parliament, formation of the polls-time impartial government and reconstitution of the Election Commission for arranging a free, fair and inclusive election, the release of all political prisoners, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of all falls and ghost cases, including those against Tarique Rahman, and annulment of all false convictions.
