BNP has announced a 31-point plan aimed at democratic reform of the constitution, state system, and economic liberation.

Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir revealed the detailed plan at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Thursday afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul mentioned that the state reform outline was initially presented at the BNP rally on December 10, 2022. Later, on December 19, Tarique Rahman announced 27 points, stating that they formed the outline of BNP. He further added that additional suggestions would be incorporated into the outline after discussions with other parties.

"Our movement is not only about changing power or the government. This outline aims to bring about a qualitative change in the state as a whole. It has been formulated through sincere discussions with other participating parties. The acting chairman and standing committee members of the party have contributed to its development," stated the BNP secretary general.

Although the 31-point plan was initially scheduled to be announced at Wednesday's rally, the BNP made the announcement a day later.

Fakhrul emphasized that the current authoritarian government has severely damaged the structure of the Bangladesh state, which now requires repair and rebuilding.

He outlined the party's vision of establishing a "public welfare national consensus government" after winning a free, fair, impartial, acceptable, and participatory election, with the aim of returning the country's ownership to its people, along with the political parties participating in the movement to remove the current fascist government.

He also announced the formation of a "Constitutional Reforms Commission" to review all controversial and undemocratic constitutional amendments, proposing their repeal or amendment, as well as carrying out other necessary constitutional reforms.

The 31-point plan includes the formation of a National Commission, the establishment of an impartial caretaker government during elections, the coordination of powers, the delineation of responsibilities and duties among the Executive, Law, and Judiciary branches, a limitation on holding the post of prime minister for more than two consecutive terms, and the introduction of an "accent."

Additionally, BNP has announced several other points, including the examination of potential amendments to Article 70 of the Constitution regarding Parliament.

During the press conference, members of the BNP standing committee, including Abdul Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas, Selima Rahman, and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, were present.
