BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain alleged that they were subjected to political discrimination when they went to pay homage to the language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday morning.

He told reported that the party started moving towards the Shaheed Minar at dawn from Balaka Cinema Hall in the capital at 7:30am, but had to wait in front of Salimullah Hall before they managed to pay their respects.

"It is the failure of those who were in charge of administration there. Even today, we were subjected to political revenge at Shaheed Minar. It is very sad. We strongly protest and condemn the incident,” he added.

The BNP leader further said the names of some organizations had been repeatedly announced through the microphones, but they did not leave the Shaheed Minar.

Mosharraf, a Standing Committee member of the BNP, also alleged that those organizations intentionally wasted everyone's time.

The leaders and activists of the opposition gathered at Dhaka's Nilkhet area in the morning, wearing black badges.

Later, they offered prayers at the graves of Language Movement martyrs at Azimpur Graveyard.

BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Joint Secretary General Aman Ullah Aman, Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, and others were also present.
