Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was behind the killing of August 15, 1975 and his son Tarique Zia, also the acting chairman of the BNP, was behind an attempt to kill Sheikh Hasina.
Quader was speaking at the triennial conference of Jamalpur district unit AL on Monday.
Pointing to the December 10 scheduled rally of the BNP in Dhaka, Quader said that the AL was ready for a face-off with the opposition men if they opt for violence in the name of a movement.
He also said that the entire country is waiting to see how the BNP plans to topple the government after December 10.
Reiterating that there would be a game in December, the AL general secretary said the game will be played against corruption, Hawa Bhaban and those who siphoned off money abroad.
Speaking as the chief guest, he said that the BNP will be allowed to carry out their programs if they hold them peacefully.
Issuing a warning, he said that the opposition party will face resistance if they try to resort to arson and anarchy.
Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak at the same event said that the BNP has yet again initiated the politics of murders in the country. He alleged that the party is plotting to assassinate the PM. Nanak called on the people to resist such a plot by the BNP.
Advocate Muhammad Bakiullah was announced as the district unit president while Bijon Kumar Chandra the general secretary at the conference.
