Dr Manisha Chakraborty, Barisal district unit member secretary of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), has alleged that the government is patronizing the looters while the poor are getting poorer.
Addressing a public meeting at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises of Barisal city on Thursday, she appealed to everyone to join the fight against the “dictatorial government”.
The program was arranged to observe the 42nd founding anniversary of BSD and the 105th anniversary of the Great November Revolution.
Among others, Bajlur Rashid Firoz, Dulal Mallik, Abdul Manik Howladar, Mafia Begum, Sahidul Islam, Rafiqul Islam, Shahidul Islam, Shaheen Sharif, Ayub Ali, Saiful Islam, Santu Mitra, Shanu Akhter, Bijan Sikder, addressed the program.
BSD Central Committee General Secretary Comrade Bajlur Rashid Firoz said that the government had taken away the voting rights of the people and sent the democracy into exile. He added that the rise of commodity prices had created a suffocating situation for the people.
Other speakers demanded the introduction of a modern pay scale in all factories, including Sonargaon Textiles of Barisal, and demanded the BRTA's license for battery-operated vehicles.
