Law enforcement agencies have been directed to check political and hateful speech during sermons.
Sources said the recommendation came at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public Administration.
A progress report was given in this regard at the 13th meeting of the committee held on Wednesday.
According to the minutes of the meeting, various religious issues were discussed, including the celebration of Durga Puja.
At one point, the president of the committee, HN Ashiqur Rahman, raised the issue of controversial discussions during sermons.
He said effective steps should be taken to prevent hateful speech in the name of politics or individuals during sermons this winter.
Later, the matter was brought up in the form of a recommendation at Wednesday's meeting. At the meeting, the Ministry of Public Administration gave a progress report on that recommendation.
