At least 10 people were injured as two factions of the BNP clashed in during a rally in Chittagong.
The incident was reported from the city’s Kazir Deuri area on Sunday, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
One of the groups belong to Dr Shahadat Hossain and Abul Bakkar while another faction belongs to Advocate Abdus Sattar, Nazimur Rahman and Syed Azam Uddin.
During the meeting, when Abdus Sattar was called on the stage to give a speech, the opposing factions attacked and the two groups engaged in a clash.
Md Idris Ali, the former co-office secretary Md Idris Ali of BNP’s Chittagong metro unit said that they sorted out the matter among themselves.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman said that their rally did not disrupt any public activity.
“We don’t know what they did among themselves,” he said, adding that no complaint has been filed over the matter yet.
