BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has expressed concern over the proposed FY2020-21 national budget, stating that it is a process of whitening black money and keeping corruption going.
Amir said the issues of life, livelihood, and humanity have been completely ignored in this budget.
This former commerce minister found that the growth targets set for the GDP and revenue sector are clearly equivalent to cheating.
He said, part of the budget allocation has been given to megaprojects, which are already in question. “And they [projects] could have been ignored if they [the government] had wanted to. There was no need to prioritize this.”
“However, the people of the country were supposed to be given the highest priority, and the health sector, and the social security sector,” said the former minister.
Depriving the public and allocating funds to these projects means continuing the trend of corruption, he added.
