Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has been transferred to a cabin from the coronary care unit (CCU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
He was transferred to the cabin on Saturday morning, Abu Naser Tipu, public relations officer of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, confirmed.
Doctors have said Quader is in a stable condition now, and have advised two days’ bed rest for him, Tipu said.
Quader, also the general secretary of the ruling Awami League, was admitted to the BSMMU on Friday morning after he fell ill.
Sources inside the party said Quader was at the party chief’s Dhanmondi office for a meeting when he started having respiratory problems, and was rushed to the hospital.
Quader went through a coronary artery bypass grafting, or a bypass surgery, in Singapore in March 2019, after he was diagnosed with three major artery blocks.
