Police have held three BNP leaders in connection with a case filed over attacking police personnel.
They were detained in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday noon.
The detainees are Training Affairs Secretary ABM Mosharraf Hossain, activists Tauhid, and Alam.
Shahbag police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan confirmed the matter.
He said: "They have been detained for their alleged involvement in Tuesday’s clash, which occurred between police and a group of BNP leaders and activists in front of the High Court."
Later they were handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police, who will now investigate the case, he added.

Earlier, BNP leaders and activists got embroiled in clashes with police in the High Court area to press home their demand for the immediate release of the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail on Tuesday.
At one point, the agitated BNP men went on a rampage and vandalized several vehicles. Police went into an action on the agitators that led to a clash and counter clash between the lawmen and BNP activists.
Regarding this matter, Sub-Inspector Matiur Rahman filed a case late on Tuesday night against 20 to 25 identified and 475 unidentified people under Shahbagh police station.
After the case was filed, the freedom Muktijoddha Dal Central President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat was arrested on early Wednesday. BNP’s central office staff Manju and Faruk were arrested on Thursday.
On the same day, police also arrested BNP joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon at the gate of the Supreme Court in the morning.
Later, BNP Vice Chairman Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Jatiyatabadi Hawkers Dal former general secretary Moqbul Hossain were also arrested.
However, the court granted the bail application of Khokon, Hafiz and Moqbul after several hours of detention.
