Police Headquarters has issued a travel ban against Dhaka Jubo League (South) unit President, Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
On condition of anonymity, some high level police officials at headquarters told Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday that a letter banning Somrat from all travel was sent to all airports and land ports across Bangladesh.
On September 18, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided the Youngmen's Club in Fakirapool, the Wanderers’ Club in Motijheel, and the Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in Gulistan, in Dhaka.
On the same day, Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, organizing secretary of Jubo League Dhaka (South) unit, was arrested from his Gulshan residence for money laundering, possession of arms, and narcotics.
Likewise, Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Firoz was arrested from their club for possession of arms and narcotics.
Two days later on September 20, Jubo League leader and businessman GK Shamim, was arrested for money laundering, illegal possession of arms, and narcotics.
Since then, the police, RAB, and the Department of Narcotics have raided multiple illegal casinos, gambling establishments, and bars across Bangladesh.
Police officials also said action will be taken against Samrat if evidence of his involvement in illegal casino businesses is established.
