BNP has claimed that the Chief Election Commission (CEC)'s remarks on the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election are a blueprint to destroy the country's electoral system.
On Tuesday, CEC KM Nurul Huda urged election officials to make the DNCC polls—slated to be held on February 28—"as fair as the December 30 general election."
"His [Huda's] remarks are a blueprint to tear down the country's electoral system," BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a press briefing held in Dhaka on Wednesday. "The 11th general election has achieved no credibility, either here or abroad."

Rizvi furthered: "Law enforcement stuffed ballots the night before December 30. Voters and opposition parties' agents were denied entry to polling stations, while opposition party candidates and activities came under attack."
The senior BNP leader alleged that the CEC has hinted he is "cheating the nation," via his remarks.
Rizvi also urged the government to release party chief Khaleda Zia, and other central leaders who are now behind bars, including Joint Secretary Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib un Nabi Khan Sohel and Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu.
Citing a ‘hide-and-seek’ play is underway for granting bail to jailed party Chairman Khaleda Zia, Rizvi urged the government to free her from prison.
