The High Court has set Monday to deliver its order on a writ challenging the government's decision to return BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU)—and seeking her readmission.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Rajik Al Jalil set the date on Sunday, after a hearing on the petition with supplementary information about Khaleda.
A J Mohammad Ali stood for Khaleda and Additional Attorney General Murad Reza for state, reports UNB.
Barrister Nowshad Jamir filed the writ on November 11 with the concerned bench of the High Court.
The BNP chief was admitted to BSMMU on October 6 and was returned to jail on November 8.
Khaleda was imprisoned in Old Central Jail, on Nazimuddin Road, after she was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8.
On October 4, the High Court directed the government to immediately admit Khaleda to BSMMU and form a new five-member medical board for her treatment.
