AL to share seats among allies based on survey

Ruling alliance holds pre-election dialogue among members

Ruling Awami League will share parliamentary constituencies among its alliance members based on survey, an alliance spokesperson has said.

Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim, also spokesperson of AL-led 14-Party Alliance, said this to reporters after the dialogue held between Awami League and 14-Party Alliance leaders at Ganabhaban on Sunday night.

Emerging from the dialogue, that was held for three hours, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said a total of 85 parties have applied for a dialogue with the prime minister, but no dialogue will take place after November 7.

 “We already had a dialogue with 14-Party Alliance, Oikya Front and Jukta Front. Dialogue with Bam Gonotanrik Jote will be held soon, meeting with Jatiya Party is tomorrow (Monday). There are some Islamic parties as well,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport minister, said they will hold as many dialogues as possible till Nov 7.

In her opening statement before the diallogue, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured that the next general election will free and fair.

“There is no doubt about the upcoming election, it will be free and fair,” the prime minister said.

Hasina, also the Awami League president, said: “The government is working for people and we have increased the growth rate of the country.”

The prime minister also said the people of the country can dream big now.

She mentioned about her promise to build a developed Bangladesh. “We will turn Bangladesh into a developed country if we come in power again. If we fail to come then all our development works will go in vain.”

Awami League Presidium member Mohammad Nasim, General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu, attended the dialogue, among others.
