BNP will arrange special prayers in mosques around the country after Jumma prayers on Friday for what it calls the “victims of the government's planned killings”.
The party says such victims include Tejgaon Chhatra Dal unit acting president Zakir Hossain Milon, who died on March 12, six days after he was arrested by police.
As part of its protest, BNP leaders and activists will also stage demonstrations carrying black badges across the country on Sunday.
The party’s senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, announced the programs at a press conference held at BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday.
“The party's all district and city units will stage demonstrations holding black badges on Sunday,” he said. “In the capital, all of our thana units will also hold the similar program on the day.”
Plainclothes police arrested Milon on March 6 as he was on his way home after attending a BNP human chain in front of the National Press Club. He was put on a three-day remand on March 8, after which he was sent to jail.

Sometime before Monday morning, Milon died. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
BNP alleged that Milon had suffered “brutal torture during the remand”, and succumbed to his injuries.
Rizvi alleged that BNP’s Narayanganj unit General Secretary Prof Mamun Mahmud was also tortured after he was taken into police remand repeatedly in “false” cases.
“Mamun became seriously ill due to the inhumane torture,” he said. "I, on behalf of BNP, demand the law enforcers immediately stop repression on him."
Rizvi criticized Obaidul Quader for his comment that BNP has become dejected and desperate as people did not respond to its movement, saying the Awami League general secretary was “delusional”.
"Even, Awami League's friend HM Ershad said two days back that Awami League's popularity has gone down to zero level," he said.
He also alleged that Obaidul was “giving provocation to create anarchy in the country in a planned way”.
