The other four commissioners are former additional secretary Mahbub Talukder, former secretary Rafiqul Islam, former district and sessions judge Begum Kabita Khanam and Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury.

CollectedCabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam announced the names the president appointed for the CEC and other commissioners at a press briefing at 9:30pm Monday.
Earlier around 6pm the president's search committee for Election Commission reconstitution submitted 10 names to him.
The six-member search committee sat down with a short list of 20 names, taken from the 125 recommendations from 27 political parties and finalised 10 names in a two-hour meeting.

The search panel also proposed four other names -- Dhaka University teacher Prof Dr Zarina Rahman Khan, local government expert Dr Tofail Ahmed, ex-planning commission member Abdul Mannan and BUP Pro-VC Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Shafiul said
Mahbub Talukder was recommended to the committee by BNP and Kabita Khanam was recommended by Awami League, the cabinet secretary said in reply to questions.

Linkedin profile, he retired as a secretary in 2006. He also worked as the director, administration and human resources, for Gemcon Ltd. He also Served as the chairman of North West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd, and the managing director of Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund.

The president formed the committee on January 25 after holding a series of talks with 31 registered political parties. The committee was instructed to submit names and recommendations for the election commission within 10 working days.
The tenure of the incumbent EC expires on Wednesday. The new commission will conduct the next general elections in 2019.

PIDIn 2012, a search committee proposed the names of two ex-bureaucrats - Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed, former parliament affairs secretary, and Ali Imam Majumder, ex-cabinet secretary - for the CEC post. The then president Zillur Rahman picked Rakibuddin.
