JSD places 7-point proposal over new EC formation

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) has placed a seven-point proposal over the formation of search committee and the new Election Commission (EC). The party proposed to include the people who believe in the spirit of Liberation War and the fundamental principles of the constitution in the search committee and the EC. JSD, also an ally of the ruling party Awami League led 14-party alliance, placed the proposal before President Abdul Hamid during a discussion over the formation of new EC at Bangabhaban on Monday. JSD president Hasanul Haq Inu, also the information minister, led the party's 12-member delegation in the discussion, the president's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting. President Hamid initiated the formal talks with the registered political parties over new EC formation as the tenure of the current Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires in February next.
