“We will not boycott the polls if the people get the chance to exercise their right,” he told the reporters after casting his vote on Thursday morning.
He said: “The environment is still congenial in the polling centres. I am urging the people of Narayanganj to come to polling centres.
“BNP will win the polls if the voting ends in free and fair manner.”
A total 156 councillor candidates are fighting for 27 posts while 38 women are fighting for nine reserved seats.
Awami League’s Selina Hayat Ivy and BNP-supported Shakhawat Hossain are the two top mayor hopefuls among six.
A total of 474,931 voters – 239,662 male and 235,269 female – are expected to exercise their right to elect their candidates.
