Update : 26 Jan 2016, 02:52 PM

The summon notice, issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a sedition case, is now being hung at the entrance of her Gulshan residence.

A Dhaka court official hung the notice Tuesday evening, Masud Khan, administrative officer of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, told the Dhaka tribune.

He said: “CMM Court's process server Zabid Hossain Bachchu went to Khaleda's residence to serve the summon notice. As nobody of her residence came to receive the notice, so the court official hung the notice at the entrance of Khaleda's Gulshan residence.”

The notice signed by Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin of the CMM Court has asked Khaleda Zia to appear before the court on March 3, he added.

Sirajul Islam, officer in-charge of Gulshan police station told the Dhaka Tribune that they have heard a court official came to Khaleda's house and hung the notice.

On Monday, a Dhaka court summoned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it on March 3 in a sedition case to explain her recent remarks doubting the actual number of Liberation War martyrs.

Supreme Court lawyer Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi, also a member of the executive body of Awami League, filed the sedition case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking an arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia.

After recording the statement of the complainant, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Rashed Talukder summoned Khaleda Zia to appear before the court on March 3.

On December 21, Khaleda Zia raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs. Her comments drew widespread flak and sparked protest among pro-liberation quarters.

Two days after her comments, Momtaz, also a former secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association, sent a legal notice to Khaleda, asking her to apologise to the nation within seven days for her remarks.
