Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh simply cannot afford such luxuries, reports UNB.
“There is no scope for any luxury like a dedicated aircraft for the president and prime minister in our country. It is unnecessary. I do not even want it,” she said.
Earlier this week, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon had said Bangladesh government would look to procure a dedicated special aircraft for VVIP flights carrying the prime minister or the president.
The prime minister dismissed such claims at the press conference at Ganabhaban on Saturday.
“If I do not feel secure using aircraft used by our people, then what is the point of having a separate aircraft?” she asked.
The VVIP Biman aircraft carrying the PM to Hungary had developed a technical glitch that caused an emergency landing in Turkmenistan.
