Information and Broadcasting Affairs Adviser to the interim government Md Mahfuz Alam, has said that collaborators of war crimes must apologize.
He emphasized that those who wish to engage in politics in Bangladesh must renounce pro-Pakistani ideology.
He made these points in a Facebook post Saturday night on his verified page.
The full text of his post is as follows:
The question of 1971 must be conclusively resolved. Collaborators of war crimes must offer a formal apology. To participate in Bangladeshi politics, one must abandon pro-Pakistani narratives. Pakistan committed genocide in this country. (Even if Pakistan has officially apologized or is willing to do so again, the local collaborators of war crimes have yet to seek forgiveness). The production of convoluted narratives justifying genocide must cease. Sabotage efforts from within the core of July’s movement must be stopped. If someone wishes to return, they must do so with clarity and sincerity.
There can be no pardon for the so-called "Mujibist leftists". They are the masterminds behind the Awami League's enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and the massacres during the anti-Modi protests in Shapla Chattar. They are a metaphorical "thirty-sixth division"—those who acted as the most disgraceful collaborators during the July movement, yet continue to operate unscathed. To this day, the Mujibist left continues to culturally and intellectually betray the forces aligned with July. From within the country, they are conspiring against the pro-July factions. These enablers of the League will soon face defeat. Relying on others’ shoulders for survival will serve no purpose.
