Maulana Mamunul Haque, former central joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, has gone to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) headquarters on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday.
A DB source confirmed this information to reporters.
According to sources, Mamunul Haque went to DB headquarters to meet with the Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Harunor Rashid.
Earlier, Mamunul Haque was released from prison on May 3.
On April 3, 2021, locals blocked Maulana Mamunul Haque with a woman at the Royal Resort of Sonargaon, Narayanganj. The police went to the spot and started questioning them.
After getting the news, the local activists of Hefazat-e-Islam rushed to the resort and rescued him.
Mamunul Haque then stayed at Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
After 15 days, on April 18, the police arrested him from that madrasa.
Later on April 30, the woman who was trapped in the resort with him filed a case of rape against him at the Sonargaon police station.
Although Mamunul Haque has been claiming that woman as his second wife.
After that in the same month, more than half a hundred cases including sedition were filed against him in different parts of the country.
Later the police showed him arrested in those cases. Mamunul Haque has been in jail in these cases since his arrest.
There are also several cases against Mamunul Haque for Shapla Chattar incidents on May 5, 2013, in Dhaka and outside Dhaka.
He was released after getting bail in those cases
