Local residents suffering for dilapidated roads

The roads and streets in Upashahar, Eidgah residential area, Ramnagar Collegepara, Lalbagh, Gobrapara and Suihari area, Mission Road, the roads from Lilymore to Kanchan Sharak bridge via Baluadanga bus stand, from Modern intersection to Chauliapatti Dubgachh Mashjid via  Ghasipara, from Charubaburmore to Patuapara via Khetripara, from Enayetpur to Ramnagar intersection, and the road from Kalitala Kotwali Thana intersection to Khetripara are in such poor conditions that people have to struggle to reach their destinations, our correspondent reports. It becomes more difficult to move on the roads and streets if it rains. Minor accidents take place very often leading to quarrels between passengers and rickshaw pullers or auto drivers, said residents. Shajahan, a resident of Balubari area, said there were potholes on almost every road and street, which were filled with dirty water whenever it rained. “Though we elected Syed Jahangir Alam as mayor two times, no developmental work has been done to improve the poor conditions of the roads and streets in the municipality,” alleged Shajahan. Ahmuda Khanam of Upashahar also echoed the same. “Though we pay taxes in due time, we do not enjoy citizen facilities,” she claimed. However, the mayor said some developmental work has been done with the allocation of last fiscal. “We have applied for more monetary allocation. Once we get it, the repair work will resume,” said Jahangir.
