45 villages submerged in Natore

At least 45 villages in Natore District have been submerged due to flood water from the Arai and Barnoi Rivers in the district. Around 15 villages were flooded in Singra and Naldanga upazilas as the water level rose over Singra-Atrai dam at around midnight on Saturday. The Executive Engineer of Natore Water Development Board (WDB) Shudhanghshu Shekhor Roy said: “The water level rose above the dam and damaged it in a few places. Villages near the dam flooded because of damage in the LGED-made dam.” According to the Natore WDB, the Atrai River water was flowing 83cm above the danger level on Sunday. Around 20,000 people in Naldanga upazila were stranded by floodwater following the rise in the water level in the Barnoi River. Agriculture in the district have been severely damaged by the flood.
