Former BNP MP Monno passes away

Former BNP member of parliament (MP) and prominent industrialist Harunur Rashid Khan Monno passed away on Tuesday morning. The eight-five-year-old was also an advisor to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. He was also the chairman of Monno Group of Industries. The veteran politician breathed his last while under treatment at Monno Medical College Hospital in Manikganj around 6am, confirmed Manikganj district unit's BNP General Secretary SA Kabir Jinnah. Monno is survived by his wife and two daughters. He was elected as an MP from Manikganj three times, respectively, in 1991, 1996 and 2001. He was made a minister without a portfolio during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government in 2001.
