Customs officials have seized a large consignment of undeclared Indian sarees and cosmetics from shed No 26 of Benapole land port in Jessore.
The seizure was made on Sunday evening, officials said.
According to customs sources, acting on confidential information, a team from the Customs Intelligence, Investigation, and Management (CIIM) unit found that an importing company, TS International, had brought in a consignment from India, declaring it as erasers, color pencils, and watercolor pencils, and stored it at shed No 26 of the port.
During inspection, officials discovered a large quantity of undeclared Indian sarees and cosmetics that did not match the declared import documents.
The seized items include 3,385 pieces of high-quality Indian sarees and 960 kg of face wash cream. The estimated value of the seized goods is around Tk 1.5 crore.
