The body of a 17-year-old schoolboy who went missing while bathing in the Bangali River in Sonatala upazila of Bogra was recovered on Saturday morning.
The deceased, Tirtha Saha, was a class 10 student and the son of Deepak Saha of Notun Bandar area in Sonatala.
Police said Tirtha went to the Aria Ghat area of the river on Saturday afternoon with his mother, sister and other family members. At one point while bathing, he drowned and went missing.
A rescue operation was launched by the Sonatala Fire Service and Civil Defence along with a diving team from Rajshahi. However, the student could not be traced on Friday.
Divers resumed the search on Friday morning and recovered the body from beneath the Aria Ghat Bridge around 8am.
Sub-Inspector Mobarak Hossain of Sonatala Police Station said the body was handed over to the family after legal formalities were completed.
Police have filed an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.
