A fire broke out on an oil tanker at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port on Thursday morning.
The vessel, MT Meghna Trader, caught fire around 7:25am, according to officials.
Immediately after the incident, units of the Bangladesh Coast Guard rushed to the spot and began firefighting operations.
The Coast Guard confirmed that all 22 crew members on board the vessel were rescued safely.
Coast Guard sources said ships Shyamol Bangla and BCGT Promatta were deployed to the scene to help contain the blaze. Two firefighting teams from BCG Base Chittagong and BCG Outpost Patenga, along with a high-speed boat, also joined the operation.
The Eastern Zone Coast Guard media control room confirmed the incident.
However, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be immediately ascertained. Efforts to bring the fire under control were continuing, officials said.
