Petrol pump fined Tk 50,000 in Tangail

Officials said that such drive will continue in the future to safeguard consumer interests and ensure fair trade practices across the district’s fuel stations

Department of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined a petrol pump Tk 50,000 for supplying less fuel than promised in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail district.

The drive was conducted on Tuesday afternoon by Assistant Director Asaduzzaman Rumel. Acting on multiple consumer complaints, officials inspected the Boali petrol pump and uncovered significant discrepancies in fuel measurements.

During the drive, the authority found that the pump was under-supplying fuel by about 270 milliliters for every 5 liters and about 542 milliliters for every 10 liters sold.

Following the findings, the pump authority was fined Tk 50,000 for violating consumer rights regulations.

Officials said that such drive will continue in the future to safeguard consumer interests and ensure fair trade practices across the district’s fuel stations.
