Prime Minister Tarique Rahman sent Eid gifts and financial assistance to an underprivileged family in Naldanga upazila of Natore, who had been surviving on boiled bottle gourd leaves and water for iftar due to extreme poverty.

A delegation from “Amra BNP Poribar,” led by State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul, visited the home of Selina Begum in the Achrakhali area on Friday morning.

The team inquired about the family’s condition and handed over Eid gifts and cash assistance on behalf of the Prime Minister.

The delegation also included the organization’s member secretary, agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, along with members Shakil Ahmed and Rubel Amin, and local BNP leaders.

The family’s plight came to public attention following a media report titled “Iftar with boiled bottle gourd leaves, sehri with only water.” The report drew the attention of Tarique Rahman, who also serves as the chief patron of “Amra BNP Poribar.” He subsequently instructed the organization’s convener and additional press secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, to provide immediate assistance to the distressed family.
