Four wagons of an oil tanker train derailed at Amnura Junction in Chapainawabganj on Thursday morning, halting train movement on the Rohanpur–Rajshahi route and leaving three trains stranded.

Railway sources said that the train, which departed from Khulna, was carrying fuel for a 50-kilowatt power plant near the junction. The derailment occurred around 4:30 am, just a few hundred yards before the train was due to enter the power plant area.

Following the incident, rail communication on the route was suspended. A rescue team from Ishwardi was dispatched to the scene and began recovery operations shortly after being notified.

Stationmaster of Amnura Junction, Hasibul Islam, confirmed the incident, saying that work to salvage the derailed wagons and repair the damaged tracks is currently underway.
