Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) held a briefing parade on Tuesday at the KMP Lines ground in Boyra ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, aiming to ensure a peaceful, free and fair voting process.
The parade was presided over by KMP Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan, who emphasized professionalism, neutrality and strict adherence to the law among police personnel assigned to election duties.
Addressing the gathering, the commissioner instructed officers to carry out their responsibilities with honesty, dedication and impartiality. He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of violence, disorder or electoral irregularities, warning that firm legal action would be taken to safeguard voters’ rights and maintain overall law and order.
The commissioner said KMP would take the lead role in election security, supported by members of the Army, Navy and Air Force. In addition, personnel from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Ansar under the Ministry of Home Affairs would be deployed to strengthen security arrangements.
To ensure voter safety, mobile patrol teams and striking reserve forces will remain active so that voters can reach polling centres and return home without obstruction. Most polling centres will be placed under CCTV surveillance, while body-worn cameras will be used to detect and address any untoward incidents.
