A two-day Election Journalism Training programme for local journalists concluded in Bogra on Saturday, underscoring the importance of responsible, impartial, and ethical reporting during the election period.
The concluding ceremony was held at Rochas Restaurant on Sherpur Road in the town. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mejbaul Karim attended the event as the chief guest, while Bogra Press Club President Rezaul Hasan Ranu was present as a special guest.
The training programme, organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), was conducted by journalist and teacher Nazia Afreen Monami. A total of 50 journalists from various media outlets across the district participated in the workshop.
The sessions focused on election-related news gathering and presentation, professional ethics, responsible journalism, and compliance with the election code of conduct.
Speakers at the closing ceremony highlighted the sensitivity of the election period and emphasized that objective and impartial journalism plays a vital role in safeguarding democratic values.
The programme was inaugurated on Friday, with PIB Director General Farooq Wasif presiding over the opening session.
