BNP leader, six others sued for beating village policemen in Gopalganj

A case has been filed against seven people, including a BNP leader, for allegedly assaulting two village police officers in Gopalganj’s Tungipara. Sub-Inspector Moslem Ali lodged the case on Wednesday night, naming four individuals — Jibesh Baroi, president of the Gopalpur Union BNP, Noyon Bain, general secretary of the union Juba Dal, Hridoy Talukdarand Ayon Bain — while the remaining accused are unidentified.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in Joaria village. According to the case statement, the two village police officers had informed the police about a yaba trading incident, leading to the arrest of a suspect, Bijon Biswas. Angered by this, Jibesh and his associates allegedly beat the officers with tree branches and issued threats.
