BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 61st birth anniversary was celebrated in Bogra on Thursday with various programmes, including recitation from the holy Quran, doa mahfil, tree plantation, and distribution of food and education materials.
In addition, leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies repaired damaged rural roads on their own initiative.
In Bogra, Chhatra Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal observed Tarique Rahman’s birthday throughout the day with various programmes.
The chief guest at the event was former MP Mosharraf Hossain, acting general secretary of Bogra district BNP. He enquired about the overall condition of the orphaned children at the madrasa’s orphanage. The programmes were presided over by district Chhatra Dal president Habibur Rashid Shondhan.
Special guests included district BNP organizing secretary Shahid-un-Nabi Salam, KM Khairul Bashar, joint general secretary Sheikh Tahauddin Nahin, district Juba Dal president Jahangir Alam and general secretary Abu Hasan. District Chhatra Dal vice-president Mamdudur Rahman Sanjad, town Chhatra Dal president SS Ranga, general secretary Atikur Rahman Rimon, and college Chhatra Dal leaders Rajibul Islam Shakil and Atikul Islam Biplob were also present.
Meanwhile, Swechchhasebak Dal activists repaired a damaged road in Bisha village of Bhatgram Union in Nandigram. In Burail Union, food was distributed among madrasa students and worshippers at local mosques. Under the direction of Bogra district Swechchhasebak Dal president Sorkar Mukul and general secretary Rakibul Islam Shuvo, party activists carried out a tree plantation programme.
In the afternoon, fruit-bearing, forestry and medicinal saplings were planted beside Dashgram High School field in the upazila. Present on the occasion were upazila BNP general secretary Belayet Hossain Ador, municipal BNP president Md Alexander, Nandigram upazila Swechchhasebak Dal convener Abu Bakkar Siddik Rongin and member secretary Abdul Hakim Rintu.
