The officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat police station in Naogaon, Abdul Malek, along with three constables, has been withdrawn following the leak of an HSC exam question paper from the station.
The district superintendent of police issued the order on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, one sub-inspector and another constable were withdrawn and attached to the police lines in connection with the incident.
According to sources, on Tuesday night, due to the presence of other accused individuals in the male lock-up, Md Sagar Hossain—an accused in a murder case—was kept in the female lock-up with one hand handcuffed.
That night, he reportedly used his fingernail to break the seal of a trunk containing the second paper of the HSC history exam.
He then used a key found there to unlock the trunk and took out one set of the question papers.
From the set, he tore up several pages and scattered the rest in various locations.
A new case was filed against him in connection with this incident, and he was later sent to court custody.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shafiul Sarwar said the OC of Dhamoirhat police station and three constables have been withdrawn and attached to the police lines.
Two separate investigation committees have been formed—one by the district administration and another by the SP, he added.
Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, Prof ANM Mofakkharul Islam, chairman of the Rajshahi Education Board, visited Dhamoirhat police station to inspect the situation.
He stated that the leaked second history paper (code 305) has been cancelled.
A replacement set of the question paper will be sent to all centres, and the HSC examination for the history subject will be held as per schedule, he added.
