Rangamati has seen an influx of tourists during the Eid holidays, as nature lovers from across Bangladesh flock to the region’s hills, lakes, and waterfalls.

On the third day of the Eid vacation on Monday, hundreds of visitors gathered at popular spots in the scenic towns of Rangamati and Kaptai.

From morning till evening, tourist sites such as Polwel Park, DC Bungalow, Kaptai Lake, the Hanging Bridge, Asambosti-Kaptai Road, and the Shubolong Waterfall were crowded with visitors.

Locations like Kaptai Lake, the Hanging Bridge, Shubolong Waterfall, and Nisorgo River Valley were particularly overwhelmed. Local hotels and motels report 70–80% occupancy.

Mohammad Salauddin, owner of Hotel Cosmos International in Rangamati, said all rooms are fully booked until Saturday due to the Eid rush.

Rayhan from Hotel Hill Ambassador shared that nearly 80% of their rooms are booked for the coming days.

A visit to Polwel Park on Monday afternoon revealed a sea of people spread across the grounds. Tourists were seen visiting various spots within the park, walking across the Hanging Bridge, and enjoying boat rides on Kaptai Lake.

Nikhil Dash and his wife, visiting from Dhaka, said they found the Kaptai Lake and Polwel Park stunning and Rangamati's natural beauty has mesmerized them.

Meanwhile, Nisarga River Valley and Pod House in Kaptai also drew a large number of visitors. Among them were Alauddin and Tipu, who travelled from the City Gate area of Chittagong with a group of friends. They described their experience as delightful, praising the boat ride and the surrounding natural beauty.

Another group—Jahangir, Nasir, Faruk Sikder, and Touhid—from Chandraghona in Rangunia, Chittagong, said Kaptai remains their favourite destination. They noted that the area’s environment is captivating and that tourism has developed significantly in recent years.

Md Afsar Uddin, director of Nisarga River Valley and Pod House, said: “A huge number of tourists have visited during the Eid holidays. All 17 of our cottages are fully booked through June 14. Our restaurant is serving 150 to 200 people at a time.”

Nasim Ahmed, owner of Nisarga Kutir, said: “There has been a large turnout of tourists, and business is good.”

Ali Ullah, investigation officer of Kaptai police station, said: “Law enforcement agencies are actively working to ensure the safety of tourists in Kaptai.”
