Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Aricha highway remained suspended for three hours on Friday, as local people blocked the highway following the death of a young man in a road accident in Shibaloy upazila of Manikganj district.
Police said Nishad, 25, was killed and two others were injured when a motorbike crashed into another in front of Falsatia Oxygen Resort on Friday evening.
Witnesses said later the local people put up a barricade on the highway, disrupting vehicular movement.
Vehicular movement on the highway returned to normal around 9pm after joint forces intervened.
Witnesses said the accident occurred when one motorbike hit another after police gave a signal to stop the first one.
Local people also alleged that the Highway Police of Borongail highway extort money in the name of checking documents from different vehicles.
However, Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Highway Police, denied the allegation.
